Urbino

November 10th we drove to Urbino. We loved this beautiful Renaissance town with its magnificent 'Palazzo Ducale' We spent several hours wandering through the superb 'Galleria Nationale delle Marche'. Loved the stately grandeur of the Palazzo and its' Courtyard of Honour'. Favourite things were the Duke's incredible study with inlaid wooden perspectives in the paneled walls; Piero della Francesca's 'Flagellation' and his 'Madonna di Senigallia' and the wonderful 'Citta Ideale'.
The children amused themselves by counting how many cruxified Jesus' they could find; the bigger the better. They concluded that there were a lot of Jesus' in Italy!
